October Dance Notes

MacQueens
Unfortunately, I have to change the date for Apple Picking. I am concerned with the large crowd on the day of the Apple Picking Festival and with so many young group members this year, I would rather do it the following weekend. We will pick for apples and take group photos. The new date will be October 14th from 11-1:00. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Sign Up Sheets
• The Ohio State Dance Team is holding a fundraiser on October 28th. It is an
all day dance camp in Columbus and Company C will be attending to support Melissa McGhee! A sign-up sheet will be posted in the hallway this week. Please sign up ASAP to get the discount.
• Pittsburgh Convention (Optional) will be posted today. Please sign up ASAP so that I can decide on dancers for extra choreography pieces

Commitment
I am writing to remind you that competition rehearsals are mandatory, and it takes everyone in the room to make these rehearsals a success. I realize that many students are involved in activities and performances outside of Company C. I cannot accommodate every dancer’s individual schedules. With our first convention being the first week in January, there will be numerous rehearsals throughout the month of December that are mandatory. Letting me know you are not going to be there or have conflicts is not an option. Your outside gymnastics, ballet, cheer, etc. should compliment your dancing at Company C. If your priorities lie elsewhere, please let me know now, so that I can change the routines that are already set.

Warm-ups
I have already placed the order for the warm-ups. The cost with embroidery is $90.00 per warm-up. Please make the check payable to Team Sports Inc. I will pass out the warm-ups as soon as they are available! Mini-Petite Sweatshirts embroidered are $30.00. Any company dancer can purchase a pink sweatshirt as well. If any parent wants a sweatshirt, they are also available for $30.00. See Bulletin Board Outside of Studio!


Christmas
This year we will be doing one Christmas event with Big Brothers/Big Sisters for the group to perform. It will be a two rehearsal/one night event. I would like to include children in the Big Bro/Big Sis program to be a part of the show. With Nutcracker rehearsals and the convention season right upon us, we will need to focus more on competition routines instead of putting on a Christmas show at a theatre.

CONVENTION updates
At this time, make sure you have made reservations for your hotel rooms for the convention season. With New York City Dance Alliance being a very popular convention circuit, rooms tend to sell out!!!

Mini petite routine
I have decided that the Mini-Petites will attend the Company Dance Convention in Toledo March 1-2 (Friday Night Competition Feb 29th) for their first experience. The average age of the dancers in the routine must be 6, so I may be adding some Minis to their routine. The convention offers a half-day workshop on Saturday from 8-12 for some of the younger dancers. If you would like your Mini-Petite to do the entire workshop (classes both Sat and Sun), let me know so we can discuss it further! Thanks!
